Dream for Future Africa Foundation Gala
Long legs were visible at every turn at Gelila Assefa Puck’s inaugural Dream for Future Africa Foundation Gala held at Spago in Beverly Hills on Thursday, October 24. Vertical wonders Karolina Kurkova, Angela Lindvall, Devon Aoki, Farida Khelfa, Maria Sharapova, Kendall Conrad, Michaela de Pury, and Amber Valletta gathered to honor Vogue Italia Editor-in-Chief Franca Sozzani at the benefit to support the nonprofit run by Wolfgang Puck’s Ethiopian-born wife. Valletta introduced Sozzani with a bit of fashion trivia. “I doubt Franca knows this, but my first modeling job was in Italian Vogue,” Valletta said. Also on hand for the celebration was Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who performed (along with Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo) before a packed audience that also included Quincy Jones, Smokey Robinson, Berry Gordy, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Alex Pettyfer, Ali Larter, Chord Overstreet, Rachel Zoe, Dita Von Teese, Amy Smart, Nikolai Von Bismarck, Eva and Michael Chow, Katherine Ross, and Sozzani’s son Francesco Carrozzini. Wolfgang Puck introduced his wife with a bit of background about the foundation, “My wife started this charity 15 years ago and a vocational school was just built in Ethiopia with Annenberg. Now we need to feed the kids and get teachers so the kids can learn a profession.” Auctioneer Simon de Pury reminded the audience, “You all know how it works, just raise your arms until you’re the winner and it all goes to Africa.”
