Costume Designer’s Guild Awards 2014
Actors including Kerry Washington, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Mindy Kaling, and Jonah Hill were on hand at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, February 22, for the 2014 Costume Designer’s Guild Awards. They joined a host of nominees including Trish Summerville, Tom Broecker, Caroline McCall, Ellen Mirojnick, and Nancy Steiner during the evening ceremony honoring the talent and creative vision of Hollywood’s most accomplished costume designers. French sportswear line Lacoste served as the evening’s presenting sponsor and company director Beryl Lacoste Hamilton was on hand for the ceremony. “The CDGAs are an occasion to show our support to the costume designers and the amazing work they do,” she said. “When I first attended the gala last year, I was truly impressed by their creative vision and technical expertise, which, by the way, are so similar to the work that goes into the making of our polo shirt.” Lacoste Hamilton said she favored American Hustle and Her, for Best Costume Design, but admitted she might be slightly prejudiced as Amy Adams (who starred in both films) was the recipient of this year’s Lacoste Spotlight Award. “Without realizing it at the time,” Lacoste Hamilton said, “my grandfather was at the forefront of product placement when he was giving all his friends the shirts to wear on and off the courts. Very early on, we had a VIP club in the Paris headquarters so they could come and pick up a few pieces of clothing.”
