Barneys New York transformed its shop at The Grove in Los Angeles into a modern glass palace to Alaïa, Marni, and Proenza Schouler, and fêted the reopening with a joint book signing that paired fashion scribe Simon Doonan with Man Repeller blogger Leandra Medine on Tuesday, September 17. Medine looked anything but off-putting in a bold poppy red dress, and Doonan, Barneys creative ambassador, was the man of the hour with a ready quip for friends and fans at the evening cocktail party. He signed copies of his latest work, The Asylum: A Collage of Couture Reminiscences… and Hysteria (Blue Rider Press), while she autographed her compilation of awkward fashion moments called Man Repeller: Seeking Love and Finding Overalls (Grand Central Publishing).
