With iconic mod-punk designer Vivienne Westwood and her husband and brand creative director, Andreas Kronthaler, as the forces behind this year’s The Art of Elysium‘s Heaven Gala vision, the ninth annual black-tie affair on Saturday, January 9 was not to be missed. Countless stars, designers and tastemakers, including Johnny Depp, Amber Heard, James Franco and Nikki Reed, gathered at 3Labs in Culver City the night before the Golden Globes for the fundraiser dinner. An industrialized modern art installation from New York-based art director Andrew Ondrejcak and a “post-apocalyptic” rainforest setting served as the backdrop for dinner, a live punk rock performance from British band Wild Daughter, ballet numbers from dancers decked in Vivenne Westwood couture, and ballads from Detroit-based soprano Shara Worden. Actress Finola Hughes and artist Russell Young were presented with the Spirit of Elysium award, the organization’s most prestigious honor, for their creative passion and service to others.
