20th Annual Critic’s Choice Movie Awards
On Friday, January 6, the Broadcast Film Critics Association held the 20th annual Critics Choice Movie Awards at the Hollywood Palladium where the actor Chris Hemsworth presented the Louis XIII Genius Award to director Ron Howard. Guest included Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Costner and Michael Keaton, who won best actor awards for his work on Birdman. Other winners included Julianne Moore (who won best actress in a drama for her work in Still Alice), Patricia Arquette (best supporting actress, Boyhood), Jenny Slate (best actress in a comedy, Obvious Child) and Emily Blunt (who won best actress in an action movie for her role in Edge of Tomorrow). Birdman stole the show with a total of seven awards, but Boyhood won best director and best picture for Richard Linklater. Blunt got the most charming surprise of all: An onstage hug from her husband John Krasinski who was backstage as her name was called for the prize.
