S.F. Opera Guild Nod to Mod Ball 2016
On Wednesday, April 20, Bay Area luminaries joined the San Francisco Opera Guild in toasting the company’s newly appointed general director Matthew Shilvock, who will assume his position as the seventh and youngest director come August 1. Following a ten-year-long direction under the esteemed David Gockley (who was also in attendance), the monumental move called for a celebration as grand as an S.F. Opera production: The Nod to Mod Ball. San Francisco notables such as Charlotte and George Shultz, Shannon Cronan, Jon Finck and Dede Wilsey kicked off the black-tie affair with a cocktail party at the historic City Hall, followed by an elegant dinner in the Rotunda, live auction and after-party. Helmed by co-chairs Maryam Muduroglu and CJ Van Pelt, the British-themed evening (a nod to Shilvock’s native England) benefitted the Opera Guild’s burgeoning education and community programs.
