S.F. Ballet School Student Showcase 2016
The best and brightest from San Francisco Ballet School turned out for the 23rd annual Student Showcase performances and dinner on Thursday, May 26, as part of the three-day annual event. Held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater, the roster of performances comprised everyone from beginner talent to advanced students on the verge of professional dance careers. Featuring classical and contemporary works, this year’s production highlights included John Neumeier’s Yondering (which marks its 20th anniversary), as well as the world premiere of faculty member Parrish Maynard’s neoclassical work, Symphonic.
Following Thursday night’s show, dancers like Sofiane Sylve and Mariam Rowan traded their stage ensembles for evening wear to join S.F. Ballet School Associate Director Patrick Armand, faculty members and ballet patrons for a celebratory dinner at the Four Seasons San Francisco, hosted by the S.F. Ballet Auxiliary. The fundraising soiree featured honorary chair Donald F. Houghton as well as event chair Michelle Gilman Jasen, and benefitted the school’s scholarships and financial aid programs.
