Inspiring author and visionary Joni Binder celebrated the launch of her thought-provoking tome Mile 46: Face to Face in Maasailand (Earth Aware Editions, $23) with fellow academics and friends at non-profit organization Futures Without Violence in the Presidio on March 8. A collection of journal entries and revealing photographs from Bondi’s travels in Kenya, the full-color publication invites readers into the lives of a traditional Massai family. The  launch, timed to International Women’s Day, featured an exclusive screening of her book trailer produced by award-winning filmmaker Julie Rubio, as well as vibrant images from the new tome. Members of the art, design and publishing realms, including authors Natalie Baszile and Christine Suppes, toasted Bondi’s empowering work as they thumbed through the new tome.
