The Ritz Carlton, San Francisco

If you’re searching for the perfect Father’s Day gift (aside from game tickets, a new tie, or fancy barbecue tools), consider a weekend getaway for dad at the newly revamped The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. The 105-year-old Neoclassical-style property, was reconceived by design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates (of The Beverly Hills Hotel and The St. Regis Atlanta) with 336 rooms outfitted in a blue-and-charcoal gray palette inspired by two key elements: city fog and men’s suiting. “The suiting aesthetic can be found in the specially woven pillows, and the layering of the wall coverings in the guest rooms and corridors, creating a sense of drama in the spaces,” says HBA principal designer, Kathleen Dauber.

Appointed with finishing touches such as drapes with cords designed to mimic men’s belts, upholstered headboards, and tweed-inspired tufted club chairs, the tailored rooms also feature sleek writing desks, and Ipads for options including a daily weather report, room service (think morning coffee and bagel, or champagne and dessert), or a reservation at on-site restaurant Parallel 37. “We are so thrilled to usher in the next chapter of this iconic neoclassical building,” says General Manager Bruce Gorelick. “Today’s traveler is not only looking for high-tech amenities, but also a true sense of connection to the destination they are visiting, whether it be for business or pleasure. We look forward to welcoming guests to rediscover our hotel and inspiring them to build new memories with us.” One thing is for sure: it’s definitely worth the splurge for dad.
