“We kept finding ourselves saying ‘this would be really great on a brunch menu,” says Karen Hatfield of the new weekend lineup launching at beloved churrasco and grill Odys + Penelope which has commanded a presence on La Brea Avenue since early 2015. “We have really found our groove and the timing seemed perfect,” says the owner and chef, who, along with her husband, Quinn Hatfield, also runs popular nearby breakfast spot The Sycamore Kitchen. Beginning Saturday, August 27, look for brunch standouts including freshly carved porchetta paired with eggs Benedict, as well as cornmeal ricotta pancakes, and chocolate-chip buckwheat waffles. When she’s not in the kitchen, here’s where you’ll find Karen around town.

LATE-NIGHT MEAL If I am eating late, it is usually to satisfy a Thai food craving. Pa Ord Noodle on Sunset is a good spot on our way home. Pad see-ew and spicy green curry always do the trick. COCKTAILS I recently had a drink at Harlowe Bar in West Hollywood called the Clementine with Aperol, agave and tangerine juice. It was awesome. SEASONAL PRODUCE The Hollywood Farmers’ Market has the best vibe and best vendors. Lettuces from The Garden Of, avocado and citrus at J.J.’s Lone Daughter Ranch and McGrath Family Farm and Weiser Family Farms for whatever may be on their tables. DATE NIGHT It’s usually a new hot spot we haven’t been to, but I do love the lounge at Redbird for a cocktail and appetizers. The Pikey is always great for fish and chips and a beer. DESSERT When in season, the lemon gelato pie at Pizzeria Mozza is not to be missed. A MEAL TO REMEMBER Our dear friends hosted a dinner at their house recently. It wasn’t supposed to be a potluck but everyone ended up bringing food and cooking together. We had locally caught whole grilled fish, warm vegetable salad, and fresh bread. Someone smoked meat and someone else made blackberry pie. Sometimes people are intimidated to cook for us but these meals often end up being the most memorable.
