Scene and Heard: Adam Lippes

“Both Ann and Ivey were wearing the line at our most recent show,” said Adam Lippes, speaking about looks worn by two Getty women from his eponymously-named label, before his trunk show held at Ann Getty’s Pacific Heights residence in San Francisco on Thursday, October 15. “Having both women wear my designs, that’s the core of the collection, it’s ageless,” added Lippes, who honed his skills working for Oscar de la Renta before launching his own line. The New York-based designer brought his fall pieces to town to give Bay Area residents a look at the results of his collaboration with floral designers Putnam & Putnam. “One is a florist, the other a photographer, you should follow them on Instagram,” Lippes said of the bloom-arranging creatives. The floral team devised a bright bouquet for Lippes and shot it with a black background, then Lippes’ team had it printed on silk chiffon, cashmere, and lace. “It’s moody and really beautiful,” said Lippes. Imagine how vibrant the pattern will look once the fog sets in.
