Perfect Pairing: India Hicks + Decorist

Just in time to assist with out-with-the-old pledges, designer India Hicks has joined forces with San Francisco-based online interior design service site Decorist. The company, founded by Gretchen Hansen and Julie Thompson, facilitates discussions with interior designers who look at room images and inspiration photos to create design plans, how-to instructions, and a shopping list of items for any residential space. Hicks, known for the airy and crisp aesthetic she’s perfected at her Bahamian retreat on Harbour Island, is joining Decorist’s roster of designers that includes Celerie Kemble, Rachel Ashwell, Will Wick, and Palmer Weiss who also create rooms plans. The fresh, white-walled rooms Hicks creates contain an eclectic mix of modern pieces with a dash of fine art and a few meaningful antiques mixed in. Hicks is, after all, the daughter of interior designer David Hicks, and imbues her work with proportion and bits of color as well as subtle nods to her British ancestry. The low-key coastal aesthetic she’s cultivated at her island estate, Hibiscus Hill, is sure to brighten up California interiors from La Jolla to Mill Valley, especially when a room refresh by Hicks is one click away. In with the new.
