This year, amid the chaos endemic to the culmination of awards season in Los Angeles, there’s a new oasis. But this is no placid meditation room. Rather, Chanel has converted the Bar Marmont into a beauty refuge that’s anything but staid and tranquil. Inspired by the accoutrements of a music video set, the I Love Coco Backstage Beauty Lounge—open Friday, February 26 through Sunday, February 28 on a first-come basis through reservations on Eventbrite—includes mini manicures, a dressing room outfitted with mirrors and makeup artists, temporary tattoos, and ample opportunities to create animated GIFs and Instagrams on a stage set with custom Chanel musical instruments. Manicurists are on hand to paint nails with one of 16 Le Vernis nail colors topped with the new Le Gel Coat Longwear Top Coat designed to prolong the mani for up to seven days. Next, mix and match eight Rouge Coco Stylo lip shades combining the intensity of lipstick, the shine of gloss, and the comfort of balm (Chanel celebrity makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua says it also acts like a lip stain when blotted) before selecting body art and taking up an instrument. Naturally, concert posters and pins accompany such performances, and here they are certainly at the ready. A lounge brimming with activity? Now that’s music to our ears.
