The San Francisco Valentino boutique welcomed fashion-loving guests on March 8th to a private cocktail to view the newest fashion collections, and as well to kick off Valentino’s partnership with SFMOMA. Valentino is a supporting sponsor of The Modern Art Ball, the highly popular and vivid biannual all-night party that raises funds for SFMOMA.

Neal Benezra, director of SFMOMA since 2002, acknowledged Valentino’s warm hospitality and its generous arts philanthropy. He was flanked by Charlotte Shultz, San Francisco’s longtime chief of protocol, and arts and culture philanthropist, Nancy Bechtle.

Admiring gauzy dresses and newest handbag styles were Emily Holt, Sonya Yu, Becca Prowda, the noted art consultant Mary Zlot, Jennifer Wade and Holly Suich.

SFMOMA’s Modern Ball, the museum’s major fund-raiser and arts bash, attracts thousands to its multi-stage and multi-gallery celebration. Many guests arrive in elaborate art-inspired costumes. The celebrated Stanlee Gatti is the party ringmaster, designer and planner.

The Modern Ball 2018 will take place in galleries and through each level of SFMOMA on Wednesday, April 25th.

The Modern Ball raises funds for displaying more of the museum’s collections, for presenting important exhibits, and to enable programs that take art into the community, and initiatives for welcoming more young students.

The musical evening starts with The Gala Dinner, which includes a live auction. Later, guests can enjoy The Supper Club with an intimate lounge experience with light dining, artful drinks, and festive music.

At the Post-Modern Party, music is revved up, and dynamic guest bands and headline performances turn the galleries into a dance party.

A percentage of sales at Valentino in March will be donated to SFMOMA.
