To celebrate Hungarian womenswear label Nanushka‘s Los Angeles pop-up at Platform in Culver City, founder and creative director Sandra Sandor gathered the city’s fashion set for a dinner under the stars on Wednesday, May 30.

Upon arrival, guests including Aubrey Plaza, Mami Gummer, Tali Lennox, Langley Fox, Fuschia Kate Sumner and Liv Hewson mingled in the boutique and perused the brand’s spring and pre-fall collections over sips of Hungarian wines curated and served by Helen’s Wines.

“I think L.A. really captures the essence of Nanushka. Its laid back lifestyle mixed with a buzzing creative scene and the diverse cultural backgrounds of people living here inspire me a lot,” said Sandor, who is scouting locations in Los Angeles and New York for a more permanent stateside home for the brand which launched in 2005. “Nanushka is all about juxtaposing clashing cultural references and L.A. embodies it pretty well.”

On hand to prepare the evening’s five-course meal was renowned Hungarian chef Krisztian Huszar, who was flown in by the brand from Budapest for the occasion. “We wanted to bring a little taste of Budapest to L.A. and we felt that this could be a good opportunity to introduce Krisztian Huszar’s reinterpreted Hungarian cuisine,” noted Sandor. “His cooking philosophy is similar to our creative approach. He uses clashing elements in his cooking, Asian ingredients with Hungarian spices or Hungarian technique with exotic ingredients. He creates an unexpected harmony, and this concept is very close to our heart.”
