Fashion illustrator David Downton‘s exquisite muse-inspired portraits are making their stateside debut in Los Angeles this month with the British artist’s first-ever California exhibition, dubbed the “Icon Series”—on view at Minotti LA and Mass Beverly home furnishings galleries. To fete the arrival of the beloved artist and his celebrated work, Mary Ta, (owner of both showrooms), hosted an intimate dinner at Mass Beverly on April 25, with guests including Sharon Stone and Anjelica Huston in attendance. Later in the week, Ta and C’s Jennifer Smith Hale hosted an exclusive book-signing cocktail party, drawing Dita von Teese and Cat Deeley to Minotti LA. Downton’s large-scale portraits of icons as well as medium-format pieces, small drawings and select commissioned works will be on exhibit through Fall 2017.
