Stars, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and tech moguls came together to ring in the fifth annual Baby2Baby Gala with an unforgettable bash at 3labs in Culver City on Saturday, November 12. In support of the nonprofit organization’s work in providing essential items to low-income families, the night brought together founders Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein to honor Hollywood actor and mother-of-three Jennifer Garner with “The Giving Tree Award,” a recognition of her ongoing dedication to children in need around the world and use of her position as a mother and public figure to advocate on the organization’s behalf. Guests like Miranda Kerr and her fiancé, Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel, joined Matthew McConaughey, Stevie Wonder, John Paul DeJoria (his haircare brand, Paul Mitchell, was an evening sponsor) and Vanessa Getty to watch as supporters including Kate Hudson, Rachel Zoe, Kelly Rowland, Molly Sims and Patricof’s best friend, Jessica Alba, took the stage to voice their thoughts on the cause on how to end the cycle of poverty. “Last night’s Baby2Baby Gala was our best yet,” Alba voiced on her Instagram page the following day. It was also one of her best look’s yet, donning a tiered black lace Valentino gown and cascading ethereal braid for the event. This unparalleled evening was in part due to the spectacular setting, dreamed up by L.A. event planning authorities Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove of Oren Cove, who turned the industrial event space into a breathtaking ballroom replete with a verdant foliage backdrop and lush, overgrown centerpieces. There was no shortage of delectable cuisine on hand either, as 20 of L.A.’s top chefs lent their talents and served up their most popular menu items from their restaurants (Jon & Vinny’s, Otium, République, Lucques, Sqirl, to name a few) to patrons in attendance, who each helped raise a record $2.9 million towards Baby2Baby. Since it’s inception five years ago, the organization has distributed 27 million essential items to children and grown from a grassroots volunteer program into one of the most influential children’s organizations in the world. “We know we are not making lives perfect but every child deserves clean clothes and basic essentials.” said Patricof in her speech to the charitable crowd along with Weinstein, before Boyz II Men took the stage and an after-party commenced with DJ Samantha Ronson and DJ Nikki Pennie. “These items also give families the ability to keep their lights on, pay rent and put food back on the table but most of all it gives them hope. There are still 300,000 low-income children in Los Angeles who we are still not reaching—our goal is to reach every single one.”
